Here is your friendly reminder: First Thursday is today. Come for one event, make an afternoon of it, or turn it into a full Summit stroll. Art, shopping, dancing, sound bowls, family fun, and a little downtown wandering are all on the menu.
The day starts at the Summit Free Public Library with Zenia Olesnyckyj: Impressions of Alaska, on view from 9 AM to 9 PM. The exhibition features photographs inspired by the artist’s journey through the southern coastal region of Alaska.
From 10 AM to 12 PM (& later at 6 to 8pm), the One Day Pop Up Art Show, organized by Aschwald Art Advisory, will take place at a private Summit residence. Featured artists include Valerie Flax, Kate DeOssie, Sunil Garg, and Kathi Olsen. RSVP for the address.
At RAM Gallery, stop by between 12 PM and 4 PM to see Liz Murphy’s In Contrast and enter to win an 8” x 8” original painting.
Also starting at noon, Fred Astaire Dance Studios is offering a free introductory dance lesson gift certificate from 12 PM to 9 PM. Stop in, check out the studio, and pick up a certificate to redeem anytime.
From 12 PM to 1:30 PM, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will host Sound Bath Meditation & Art Making, a somatic practice combining crystal singing bowls and hands-on art-making. Materials will be provided; bring a yoga mat or seating.
From 4 PM to 8 PM, downtown Summit turns up the energy with Family Fun Night, presented by Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center. Beechwood Road and Bank Street will become a carnival-style celebration with free activities, live entertainment, music, magic, dancing, and family-friendly performances.
And from 5 PM to 7 PM, Lavender & Sage Boutique is hosting Sip, Shop, and Win, with extended hours, bubbly, ethically sourced gifts and jewelry, and a giveaway of one of their new art prints.
See you out there!
