Summit First Thursday is about to get even more artful—and delightfully weird.

We're inviting artists, illustrators, doodlers, and creative minds of all ages to submit designs for custom stamps that will be used in the scavenger hunt. This is a chance to have your work turned into an actual rubber stamp that hundreds of visitors will seek out during this one-night-only event.

✨ The Prompt:

“Things You Might Find at an Art Opening”

What might that be? A moody gallery ghost? A flamboyant art critic with wild glasses? A raccoon in a beret? A too-loud whisperer who thinks their kid could make that? Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. Feel free to go conceptual, observational, absurd, or even gently satirical.

Stamps should be simple, black-and-white line drawings. This is not about perfection—it’s about personality.

🕵️‍♀️ About the Scavenger Hunt:

On June 6, Summit First Thursday visitors will pick up a custom art card and travel from venue to venue collecting stamps—each one created by a different artist. As they go, their card becomes a completed collaborative artwork, filled with whimsical fragments of the “art opening experience.”

📬 Submission Guidelines:

  • Submit a black-and-white line drawing that fits within a 2" x 2" square (simpler is better!)

  • Must relate to the theme: “Things You Might Find at an Art Opening”

  • Up to 3 entries per person

  • Submit as a high-resolution (300 dpi) JPG, PNG, or PDF

  • Deadline to submit: Sunday, May 18 at 11:59 PM

  • Send submissions to: mcohn@artcenternj.org

🏆 What You Get:

  • If selected, your design will be made into a real rubber stamp

  • Your name will be credited online and on the custom art card

  • Your stamp will be part of a joyful, interactive event that brings people together around art, curiosity, and a little silliness

🎯 Selection Process:

A small team will review all submissions and choose around 10 designs that create a fun and surprising scavenger hunt experience.

Ready to Stamp Your Place in Summit History?

Break out your pens, tablets, or iPad doodle tools. We can’t wait to see what you think really shows up at an art opening.
